Neurogenesis - Creating New Brain Cells

Posted by Optivida Health on

Neurogenesis is the process by which the brain renews and upgrades itself. It is through neurogenesis that new brain cells are created. These neurons process and carry information to appropriate destinations throughout the body. It was once theorized that it is impossible to grow new brain cells. However, this theory has been overturned and it is now known that it is indeed possible to regenerate brain cells at any age.

A study originally published in the International Journal of Neuropharmacology points to Hemp Extract as a cause of neurogenesis. Specifically, this birth of new neurons occurred in the hippocampus, an area typically associated with conscious memory and navigation. The neurogenesis research suggests that Hemp Extract helps to regulate stress levels. Hemp Extract is typically known for relieving pain, stress, anxiety and a number of other conditions.

The most recent of these benefits was found by a group of researchers from Brazil and Spain. They aimed to determine the effect neurogenesis has on Hemp Extract’s anxiety relief. They first caused mice to be stressed. Two hours later, each day, they gave the mice 30 mg of Hemp Extract and recorded their levels of neurogenesis. Their findings were that Hemp Extract spurred an increase in neuron production and battled the effects of chronic, unpredictable stress.

Birthing new brain cells is of immense importance for living a healthy and vital life, at any age. This is another reason to use Hemp Extract on a regular basis.
